Lisa Martin uses a client-centred approach to facilitate the return to meaningful occupations of those who have suffered traumatic injuries including acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex orthopedic injury, and chronic pain.
She is a registered Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of experience and has provided expert testimony as an Occupational Therapist in court. She has clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of adults and children with physical, neurological, psychosocial, and cognitive impairments.
Lisa performs in-home and community-based assessments to identify functional limitations and care needs arising from injury and illness, including assessment of attendant care needs, home safety assessments, determining assistive devices and home modification needs, and comprehensive physical, cognitive and psychosocial assessments. She also provides hospital discharge planning, return to school or work planning, case management/care coordination services and occupational therapy treatment.
Lisa holds a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Western Ontario. She is registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario and a member of the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists. She has also been involved in the education of OT students and has held a status appointment with the University of Toronto as well as facilitating student placements.
She is certified in the 3rd Edition of the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) for pain management. She has training and certificates in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and the Brain Injury Family Intervention (BIFI) program.
In addition, Lisa has completed courses including cognitive rehabilitation, the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), mobility and seating assessment and device prescription, vehicle modification, visual deficits, transfers and lifts, pressure ulcers and management surfaces, Neuro-developmental Treatment (NDT), life care planning, and the assessment of attendant care needs. She regularly participates in workshops and conferences to ensure she remains current in assessment and treatment approaches as well as best practices.
In her spare time Lisa enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
