Our 9-module programs combine education, experiential practice, and in some cases, professional and community support. Our programs address the emotional and social needs of individuals recovering from injury, illness or chronic conditions.
We offer three learning formats based on your current capabilities, time and ability to focus.
This program recognizes that you may need extra support as you journey through your recovery. In addition to going through the 9 modules of course content at a pace you’re comfortable with, you’ll receive one-on-one support from one of our certified Learn to Thrive coaches.
You’ll work with them for a minimum of 15 sessions to help you fully understand and integrate the learnings into your regular routines so you can improve your perspectives, feelings and overall well-being.
This format is recommended for people who would benefit from a personalized learning experience with the support of a coach, who may not be comfortable with a group experience, or cannot make the Group Learning dates and times.
Participants are in a group of 8-12 people who are recovering from illness or injury. The group meets weekly on Zoom for nine weeks. Each two-hour session covers a different module.
This isn’t another support group. It’s a community of people who understand your struggles but also share in your experience as you learn practical tools together that will help you thrive from day one.
During a session, certified coaches Lina and Arvinder review the content and then participants have an opportunity to discuss, share in break outs sessions, and complete exercises to integrate the learning.
If you require more support, we may request that a personal support worker or rehab support worker work with you during the live sessions to help with logging in to the online class,
This format is recommended for those who are able to tolerate at least one hour of screen time on a tablet or computer, and are able to and benefit from engagement with others.
Start and end dates will be set once there is a minimum of eight people admitted to the program.
This format is recommended for people who want to work at their own pace. You should have more independence, the capacity and self-motivation to watch the video content, and engage in the activities on your own.
Arvinder Gaya and Lina Maria Aristizabal created these courses that combines their life experiences in helping people with brain injuries and concussions.
Arvinder brings more than 25 years of knowledge and expertise in working with brain injury survivors from her occupational therapy practice PiOT. PiOT’s experience working with clients, adjusters and lawyers with motor vehicle accidents ensures that this program meets the reporting requirements of medical-legal cases. As someone who sustained a concussion in 2018 and is still experiencing symptoms, Lina understands first-hand the frustration, challenges and isolation that come with the slow recovery of post-concussion syndrome.
